A window quote often carries one name: Rehau, VEKA, Kömmerling, Deceuninck… It is the profile brand, the PVC frame of the window. This page gathers what each maker says on its own pages and data sheets. It is not a ranking, it does not say which to pick, and it has no commercial links.
We read these pages on 23 October 2026. The numbers are the makers’ own. No independent laboratory measured them.
The profile brand is not the window brand
The profile comes from the profile maker. The window is cut, welded and assembled by a joinery company, which picks the glass and the hardware. Then comes the installation. So a well-known profile brand is not a guarantee of quality: the installer, the glass, the hardware and the fitting weigh as much as the profile.

Two names heard in conversation need a note. VEKA SPECTRAL is a colour finish, not a window system. And Euro-Design 60 does not appear on the Portuguese REHAU pages I read; the 70 mm system is called Euro-Design 70.
How to read the numbers
- Uf is for the profile. Uw is for the whole window and depends on the glass, the spacer and the size. See thermal insulation of PVC windows.
- The numbers are not comparable between makers, unless the standard and the configuration are the same. Of the sources read, only VEKA names the standard (EN ISO 10077) and the test window next to Uw. aluplast gives the glass and the spacer. The others do not.
- Even within one brand the numbers change: REHAU shows Uf 0.89 for GENEO on its current page and 0.76 on a data sheet from October 2017. Kömmerling gives, on the same 76MD page, Uw “from 0.81” and “from 0.80”.
- Depth and chambers describe the profile design. They do not say how the window will perform once installed.
- Class A (EN 12608) was stated only by VEKA and Cortizo. On the other pages it is absent, which does not mean the profile fails it. See profile classes.
What to do with your quote
- Ask in writing for the brand and series of the profile, with the exact name (for example “VEKA Softline 70”), and the depth in mm.
- Ask for the class of the profile (A, B or C) and the profile maker’s data sheet.
- Ask who builds the window. It may be another company, and it may use more than one profile brand.
- Ask for the Uw of the complete window, with the glass in the quote, and the standard used.
- Ask for the warranty in writing, separately for profile, glass, hardware and installation, and who gives it: the maker or the company. VEKA, for example, says it gives 10 years on white profiles in Europe. See warranties and certificates.
There is no “best” brand here. Compare offers with the same profile, the same glass and the same installation.
What I could not confirm
- Which brands are most used in Portugal: there is no official data.
- Whether Gealan, Salamander, Schüco (PVC) and aluplast are used by Portuguese companies. I found aluplast on no official Portuguese page and did not see it in a quote.
- Whether the profiles meet class A when the page does not mention it.
- What they say about lead-free stabilisers: none of the pages read mention it.
- The VEKA values come from the VEKA Spain catalogue. The system pages on the Portuguese site do not show them as text.
- The Schüco “standard windows” page returned an error, so I do not have the Uf of Schüco PVC. The REHAU site blocks automated readers: check the numbers on the current pages.

Read on 23 October 2026, all from the makers themselves. The links for each brand are in the last column of the table. In addition:
- VEKA: recycling commitment and the group
- Kömmerling: the brand

- REHAU: GENEO data sheet, 10.2017
What to do next
- See what the letter A, B or C means in PVC profile classes.
- Know what to ask in questions for the installer.
- Ask for comparable offers: how to ask for a quote.
