About Entroncamento
Entroncamento is a town in the Santarém district, in the Middle Tagus sub-region, in the old province of Ribatejo. The municipality covers 13.73 km², the second smallest in the country, and has 20,141 inhabitants (2021), about 1,467 per km². It has two parishes, São João Baptista and Nossa Senhora de Fátima, and borders Torres Novas, Vila Nova da Barquinha and Golegã.
The town was born from the train. The name comes from the crossing of two lines, the Northern Line, between Lisbon and Porto, and the Eastern Line, to Badajoz. It was a bare place that grew with the railway: it became a parish in 1926, a municipality in 1945 and a city in 1991. At some periods, mostly in the 1940s, more than half the population was tied to CP, the railway company.
Wikipedia says that, being recent, the town has no historic heritage of its own, apart from the National Railway Museum, beside the station, with its Locomotive Roundhouse. It is seen as a dormitory town for people who work in Torres Novas, Tomar and Lisbon, and has had an MSC logistics terminal since 2009. There are also marble, furniture, metalwork and fireplace firms.
What the climate of Entroncamento asks of windows
Wikipedia has no climate data for Entroncamento. The municipality is small, at 13.73 km², and its streams run to the Tagus, which passes about 1.5 km from the municipal boundary. So the Middle Tagus climate is to be expected, with hot summers, cool winters and some damp near the streams. We give no figures because we do not have them from a reliable source. We ask the installer to confirm on site.
Entroncamento is a small, compact town, at 13.73 km², cut in half by the railway.
Wikipedia gives no climate figures. We speak of what you feel at home: train and road noise, damp in closed-up homes and the seasons of the Middle Tagus.
- Trains and roads
The Northern Line and the Beira Baixa Line cross the town, and there are also the A23 and the EN3. Near the track and the station, noise gets in through the glass and the gaps. A continuous seal and glass of different thicknesses or laminated glass usually lower what you hear; an old blind box also lets sound through.
- Homes closed all day
Being seen as a dormitory town, many people are to be expected out of the house during the day. With well-sealed windows and no airing, steam from the kitchen and shower stays inside and the glass mists up. Ask for an airing opening in the frame and use it for a few minutes, even in winter.
- Streams and lake
The Santa Catarina and Árgea streams and the lake in Parque Verde do Bonito may bring damper air to some streets. Profiles that do not rot, hardware that is easy to clean and a silicone joint in good shape give less work in those areas.
- Middle Tagus summer
Summers are hot in the Middle Tagus. On blocks with a sunny facade, light colours, outside blinds and solar-control glass help keep the room cool. At night, open the windows on the quieter side, away from the track, to ventilate.

| Condition | Level | Climate sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Summer | Medium | Hot, as is to be expected in the Middle Tagus. |
| Winter | Medium | Cool, as is to be expected in the Middle Tagus. |
| Rain | Medium | More in the cold months. |
| Humidity | Medium | Expected by the streams and the lake of Parque Verde do Bonito. |

Homes in Entroncamento
The homes in the area change what is worth asking of the windows.
Older apartment blocks
Near the station and the districts that CP built for its workers, according to English Wikipedia, there are older blocks and houses. When replacing old windows, check the state of the blind box, the render and the wood around the opening, and ask for careful measuring.
New apartments
It is a dense town, with about 1,467 inhabitants per km², and seen as a dormitory town. People who spend the day out hardly air the home, so damp from the kitchen and shower stays inside. In a block, first read the residents' rules on window colour and model.
Local notes
Near the Northern Line, the Beira Baixa Line, the station and roads such as the EN3, expect train and traffic noise. A continuous seal and well-chosen glass help, and the installer should look at the facade facing the track.

The railway in the middle of town
The Northern Line and the Beira Baixa Line cross Entroncamento. The station receives Alfa Pendular, InterCidades, regional and international trains, all run by CP. Wikipedia notes that bridges and tunnels were needed to end level crossings, and that in 2026 one remains, in Rua Infante Sagres. The town also has the A23, the A13 and the EN3.
People living near the track, the station or the roads hear trains, whistles and traffic. A window only improves the noise if the seal is continuous and the glass is well chosen: panes of different thicknesses, or laminated glass, usually help more than adding a third pane. Be wary of promises of figures without a measurement.
Streams and a lake among the concrete
The Santa Catarina stream crosses the municipality, but in town much of its course is underground and, at the surface, the route is now a cycle path. The Árgea stream feeds the lake in Parque Verde do Bonito, the biggest green area in town. The water then flows on to the Tagus, to the south-east.
Homes near the streams and the lake may have more damp in the air on cold mornings. If you see mould in the corners, look for the cause in the wall and the ventilation before blaming the window.
General notes
A window well sealed all round helps, with panes of different thicknesses or laminated glass. Also check the blind box and the gaps in the wall, because sound gets in there. Ask the installer to explain what to expect, without promising figures.
In the sources we read we found no specific local rules, and Wikipedia says the town has no historic heritage of its own, apart from the National Railway Museum. In a block with residents' rules, those may fix the colour or the model. If in doubt, ask the town council before ordering.
Ask for windows with an airing opening and leave it open when you are home. An extractor in the kitchen and bathroom also helps. Well-sealed homes closed all day hold damp, and a new window does not solve that alone.
In many blocks the windows face the shared facade, and the residents may require the same model and colour. Read the rules before ordering. If you can, choose a profile and colour like those of the other flats.
Wikipedia gives no climate figures for Entroncamento. In the Middle Tagus, hot summers are to be expected. For west-facing rooms, outside blinds and solar-control glass count for more than the number of panes.
Yes. Give your locality when you ask for the call and we pass the request to installers in the area. We do not install: we connect the person asking with the person who does the work. Say whether the house is near the railway or a road.
